![]() As a mom and a safety crazy blogger, I am always concerned about the safety of my home. I have had many daydreams (or nightmares would be more appropriate) about the windows in my home and fires in relation to my three year old. I'm constantly checking the locks, wondering if the screens are in correctly and thinking about possibly putting a ladder next the upstairs bedroom window (doesn't seem like a great idea). Surprisingly, fires and falls of all kinds are among the leading causes of injury and death in young children. While some falls occur from windows, it is important to realize that in the event of a fire, a window can also save a child's life. This week is National Window Safety Week and it's seems like the perfect time to take the steps below, provided by the National Safety Council, to ensure that my home is as safe as it can be in the window department:
